Congratulations to Katie and James on the safe (and early!) arrival

of a beautiful baby GIRL!! What a beautiful addition to your family!

I LOVE love love her. Truly the most beautiful and perfect baby that I have

seen. ( Besides Kennedy- but I am obviously biased.)

I was supposed to be having a baby shower at my house today, but

Little Miss Tessa Camryn couldn't wait. I am glad she waited to get into

the hospital at least, because poor daddy was worried he was going to

have to deliver her himself!!

Congratulations guys. She is truly beautiful, and so blessed to have such wonderful

people in her life. ( And by that, I mean me.)

I Am trying my best.
I Want Kennedy to be happy.
I Wish that I had travelled somewhere when I was younger. Lived abroad, worked out west...something. Just to say I did.
I Hate the sound "oi". In any word. Especially ointment. I also hate the word "ooze". I really hate the two words togethor. Nothing good can be described with those words... Go ahead..TRY.
I Fear death. I am sort of a hypochondriac. You name it,- I have had it. Google amplifies my problem, because any symptom I "think" I may have, I google it, only to find out that I have 14 minutes to live.
I Search the internet. Alot. I love useless information and can spend hours poking around on sites like this.
I Wonder what Kennedy will be like as she grows.
I Regret not enjoying my pregnancy more. I wish I could have focused less on how much weight I was gaining and more on what a miracle I was creating.
I Love unexpected kisses from Kennedy. Nothing is more rewarding then having an 18 month walk to you with their lips puckered for no reason. (Other then they love you.)
I Always say "Hi baby" as soon as I see Kennedy in the morning, and I always say "I love you baby" every night when i put her in her crib.
I Usually neglect my housework.
I Am Not Betty Crocker. I stink in the kitchen, although I do try.
I Dance with my daughter to the Wiggles.
I Sing in the car.
I Rarely watch TV. There is not many programs that I could sit and watch a full show of any ways. Maybe the fact that I can't sit still for half an hour contributes to this.
I Cry rarely. But when I do, watch out. It is like Niagara Falls. I well up often, but tears dont come much.
I Am Not Always honest. Sometimes I wish I could say what I am really thinking, but I hate hurting people.
I Should remember to say I love you more often. I should also go to bed.

Hannah and Kennedy found a new use for her Little People Farm today.

They discovered that they can "shoot" Little People with it,-- and that's what they did!

ALL day. Much to Kennedy's amusement, Hannah was having just as much fun as she was.

And much to Hannah's amusement, she was really making Kennedy giggle!!!

Kennedy had her first real "injury". I reacted like an idiot, completely panicked at the sign of blood. I can't imagine if it were something more serious. I think I almost threw up, although I can't remember because I was so upset. I tryed to convince John that she should go to the hospital, but he assured me that it was ok, and that I was giving myself a panic attack.

It really wasn't that serious, but she did manage to scrape off a good portion of her cheek!

BTW I did manage to snap some pics with my new camera (thanks John!)....

With my buddy Kate being really really about to pop preggo (haha), I started to think back to how crappy I felt when I was pregnant.

After a long day of getting goobered on by Ethan, (ok, ok Kennedy did the goobering) Kennedy got to enjoy a longer than normal bath. After coming out looking like a wrinkled prune, there was a Ding Dong at the door. Gramma and Ba-Ba came over with a Valentines day surprise. A singing Gorilla. (Thanks. Extra thanks for showing her how to turn it on) She went wild. She danced and danced and danced some more. Just when you'd think she was done....She' dance some more. Unfortunately for her, as Katie has lovingly pointed out, she gets her rhythm from her mother. (not that her dad's is any better) I must tell you, Ethan doesn't have the greatest moves himself.

Anyhow....

It was a long day. We played the morning away with Ethan, slept the afternoon away, and danced the night away. Dancing video to follow-- as soon as I teach her some moves.

I must admit that I am a little bit jealous. John can make Kennedy "belly" laugh to the point where I know she is peeing her pants. I try and try and all i get is a few giggles.

Kennedy is becoming increasingly independent. She refuses to be spoon-fed (for months now) and trys so hard to do it herself. Half the time there is nothing on her spoon and she just gobbles up the air.

Kennedy meets the Potty

When I first heard that my friends who have children the same age as Kennedy were putting their children on the potty, I must admit - I thought they were crazy. (Secretly I still do.) Of course I sat and entertained their stories of their children successfully peeing on the potty, all the time not believing anything they are saying. (Good thing those paticular moms don't have my blog address!)

So, today in Walmart it is decided Kennedy needs a potty. I had originally got one at our baby shower but it was a singing potty that has all sorts of bells and whistles. ( The one I registered for) After reading how bad they are for potty training in my parenting magazines, I took it back.

So today kennedy got a plain jane potty. When I first showed it to her she seemed pretty excited. She sat on it for a minute and looked at a book. Then mommy had to leave the room for 30 seconds to go "potty" herself, and came back to discover that Kennedy had the potty bowl ...on her head. For real.

Note to self : Never leave Kennedy unattended with the potty. Especially when the bowl has stuff in it.

It has become increasingly difficult to catch my daughter in time to take a quick pic.

She runs by me at the speed of light , and when she sees the camera she just runs faster.

(Hence my lack of updates) I have a million pictures of her first year, but almost NONE of

the last three months. Facially she has really changed, too! She is starting to look alot like Dad... Or maybe not like Dad, but just Italian. This is Kennedy yesterday and a year ago yesterday.

I didn't realize how ...umm..."energetic" Kennedy is until today when my friend Jeff brought his beautiful Charlee by for a visit. To put it nicely, Kennedy ran around like a maniac while Charlee sat nicely eating her yogurt tube. Might I also mention that she sat and ate her yogurt tube on my carpet without spilling one drop. Unfortunately she put it on the table (nicely) to go and explore the bowling pins, not knowing that her devilish little friend would get it. Kennedy squeezed the entire thing out on the carpet! Of course she did. Sit and nicely eat yogurt? Not my child.

Charlee decided she would play with Kennedys favourite thing....her kitchen. Nope. Kennedy isnt having that. She pushes the kitchen over onto Charlee. Charlee crys. Mommy tells Kennedy not to be mean...Kennedy crys.

This is what my baby looked like a year ago today. I remember that sleeper. Size 3 months.

Right now kennedy is in size 18 months. A visit to the doctor on Thursday tells us that she is under weight (22lbs) but tall for her age (34.5 inches) I knew she was underweight and tall without his expert opinion. She is into everything. Her favourite toys of choice being her Playskool kitchen and her Bristle blocks. (SHe still enjoys my telephone and remotes more than anything.) She repeats everything now. Her vocabulary is quite large, I think that I have counted about 30 words that she knows and uses in sign as well as speak. She has stopped signing as much now that she has words. And words are so much more fun...because they are LOUD! She yells for everything. She was the "bad kid" last week at daycare with an incident of biting and beating up other kids. Not one of my prouder moments. As well, she managed to climb over her crib rail, land with a loud boom all to get to a book she decided she should be reading instead of sleeping.

She is still very affectionate. She mimicks I love you. She hugs often and kisses alot. I hope that those are things that she will never outgrow. The biting?....Well, i could live without that.

Kennedy is getting really good at signing! She understands alot more then she uses, but so far her everyday vocabulary consists of eat, drink, milk and more. She knows and uses dog, bird, cat and book - but only when she sees them.
She points at everything and shrugs her shoulders, and in all the signing books it says that she is asking, "what is that?"...I never know the signs at the time. I always have to look them up, and by then she is obviously on to something different.
So, she knows the basics anyhow.

Oh yes...she is also saying "Noooo. no no..."
In a "I am mocking my mom", voice.

Of course, its Katie's fault. Katie reminded me yesterday of just how festive I used to be on Halloween. Halloween is my Christmas. I have stunk at Halloween for three years. Last year Kennedy was just "fresh", so i really didnt have the energy. The year before that John's mom had passed away a week earlier, and I wasn't feeling in the spirit. So why this year? What the hell is my excuse? Nothing. I have no excuses. I also have no lights, no jack-o- lanterns, no spiderwebs and no creepy graveyard in my front yard. I stink. I want to be dripping in spirit!

This is my last Halloween as a grinch. I used to be costumed and decorated every year. I refuse to not let my daughter see that side of me! I want to be a fun Mom!

Errrr...See what you do to me Kate? Now i am all stressed out about Pumpkins and spider webs! next year you just wait! I will do Halloween better then it has ever been done!

Kennedy is in love with this cardboard ring.

That's right, a cardboard ring. She plays with it CONSTANTly.

She puts it over her head and exclaims "oooooooohhh", as if it is

sometimes if i am really lucky it is offered to me to wear on my

own head. ( Not often)

When Ethans Mommy started whining a month ago about how sad she was her little man was about to turn one, I passed it off as pregnancy hormones. So , as kennedy's birthday approached I realized-- IT REALLY IS SAD!! A year. She has changed so much ! I forget already what those "new" days are like. I forget what the cry of a newborn baby sounds like. I forget that new baby smell. I forget what it was like to hold a frail teeny tiny baby.

Kennedy runs around non stop. She immitates EVERYTHING. She performs quite regularily for people with her witches laugh, her lion roar and (my favourite) her babbily version of the abc's. (which as soon as i can catch on video will be posted!) She signs for food, and when she sees a dog, and for "more" when Daddy tickles her. She has such a super duper personality now. Gone are the little baby days, and as sad as that is....I wouldn't give up these days for anything. She interacts with me now..and delibrately tries to make me laugh while applauding for herself the whole time. She is funny. Really funny.

A Day Under the Bridge

Today's chilly weather made me think about how beautiful of a weekend we had. Kennedy, John and I basked in the sun. We took a walk under the bridge,watched the boats and the birds - and kennedy even got her first official "lick" (literally) of Bridge fries. (which I must say I think she enjoyed.) Anyways one lick can't hurt her...can it? I feel bad for the poor kid - formula, strained fruits and veggies, ...blech.

I almost can't believe it. Lily used to be huge!!!!! Seriously look at the size of her. That darn frog has shrunk - ALOT. Can you believe that she used to be the same size as my daughter????

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED? In case I need to remind you, Kennedy can fit half of Lily in her mouth now. And she does...often.

How depressing. Either way you look at- I don't know how to wash stuffed animals, OR my baby isn't a baby anymore.

Kennedy is officially using the sign for milk. Ok, so for a few days it meant everything...but now- IT JUST MEANS MILK! I am seriously so proud. I can't wait until she starts to learn more words. I must admit, I often feel quite foolish outside of our home signing to her. Especially because I am not sure I am doing the signs right. But hey, I guess at least I will understand what they mean.

Oh ya - and that really is fried chicken in her hand. FOR THE PHOTO ONLY...ok and for her mothers amusement.

My daughter was all smiles as she enjoyed the weather today and yesterday. It's nice to be able to put her down on the grass and let her discover the out doors. Really, she has never had the opportunity. She enjoyed herself. She tried to eat a few flowers, sticks and bugs...BUT it was an awesome day. I am looking forward to an incredible summer.

After reading my friend Katie's blog I am glad to hear that I am not the only mother dealing with a miserable infant. Although i wouldn't wish one day of this on Katie - it's nice to know I am not alone.

Kennedy has a tooth. AND she wants EVERYONE to know it. She is not herself. She is MAD. She doesnt want to eat, or play, or hear a song, or watch cartoons, or even kiss Lily.

She wants to cry. Alot. I feel bad for Kennedy. Please oh please tell me that it gets easier with each tooth. I still have like 19 to go!!

On a more positive note, it can't last forever.

On a less positive note, I had my first baby bite. Booo.

A month since I posted??

I can't believe it's been a month since my last post.

Kennedy is changing so much right now that i should be posting more often. (Bad Mom)

Although she hasnt quite mastered the crawl, the scooch is getting her where she wants to go. At this rate there is no need for the girl to crawl. She pulls her little self around quite quickly and has mastered the art of obtaining just about any object she sets her mind on.

7 months old. I can't believe it.

The doctor informed us yesterday that she is 28.5 inches long and 18.9lbs.

She is wearing 12 month clothing, in length not width. The poor girls pants are so loose around the belly but to fit her long legs they have to be.

She is developing quite the personality these days, and still has a thing for the ratty old stuffed frog "Lily". I don't know what it is about that thing, but Kennedy could kiss her all day long.

It's funny how she clutches Lily by the leg no matter what she is doing. (I have included a picture of Lily on one of her better days. I must admit she is ussually not so clean. Bad Mom) I took her to Half Pint today to buy another Lily "just in case". I offered her the new Lily and she seemed pleased...for about a minute or so. She wants ratty old Lily. I am embarassed. No amount of washing makes her look clean...and she definately doesn't smell good. I used to wonder how these moms could let their children chew on these ratty old disgusting stuffed toys. Now I know.

Note to self: Do not be so quick to judge, some day it may be your child sucking on a dirty old toy while masterfully licking a runny nose, and wearing one sock.

My darling has a boyyyfriend. Isn't he beautiful? In case you are wondering, this little man made her jump in delight! I have never seen her so excited. She reached for him, licked him, grabbed his "faux hawk", screamed at him and basically ripped my arms off trying to give him a hug. Her tongue wagged at him like a little puppy. Sooooo cute.

I can't believe that 5 months have come and gone. Kennedy is getting so big.
At this moment in time she is able to;

Roll over any which way
Pull herself for short distances
Drink from a sippy cup
Eat a cookie (with supervision)
Sit unsupported for a minute or so

I feel that crawling is coming soon. And it scares me. Our home is not yet baby proofed, and my child loooovvvves to put EVERYTHING into her mouth. I guess that I need to get on that quickly. I love that she is getting big, and I am proud of everything that she accomplishes...and at the same time I wish she would stay just the way she is forever.

First Birthday as a Mom

I almost forgot...it's my birthday tomorrow. Funny how these things that used to be so important somehow aren't anymore. My birthday seems uneventful this year. Small compared to everything else. Kennedy somehow overshadows this day...and everything else that used to seem to matter. I guess it could be worse, I could be NinjaMom and share my birthday with my child. Actually come to think of it, Carol and Lyla's birthday's are the same as well. I wonder how often that happens. I guess it depends how you look at. It could be the greatest birthday gift ever to share your day with child, or if you're slightly selfish like some people I know (a-hem) it could be a major invasion of a day that used to be solely yours. Either way, the days of hoopla partying are gone. This year, all I want is for John to be the person who opens the "package" when Kennedy makes me her "present". Yay.

I finally started introducing signs to Kennedy. She looks at me like I am crazy as I attempt to sign "milk" and "eat". They say babies typically won't sign back until 6 months. The statistics behind this form of early communication are awesome. Most babies who are signed to will have a "vocabulary" of about 10 words by 8 months. Kennedy discovered a few weeks ago that her hands are functional. It amazes me everyday how much she is using them. She holds her small toys, her bottle and affectionately rubs my cheek when I hold her. John first noticed her affection about a week ago when she would rub his chin when he held her. It is so nice. I love that she is affectionate. Today in her fumbling around she discovered that she has feet, and now that she knows how to work her hands - she can grab her feet. Too cute.

I seriously wonder what is up with my child. She LOVES getting her picture taken. No matter what is going on in the house, she stops everything and gives me a smile. Nothing can distract her away from being the center of attention.

I thought that having a shower and getting ready would be easy today. Kennedy was in a super mood and wanted nothing more than to lay around in her diaper and suck her hand. Sooo... I put a blanket on her floor and left her after searching around to make sure there was nothing for her to eat.

10 minutes pass.

A refreshed mommy walks down the hall to Kennedy's bedroom and there on the floor where I left her...NOTHING. Well the blanket was there, but she was not. I was home alone. WHERE DID SHE GO? First thought was " Oh my god, she crawled...AND I MISSED IT!" I searched upstairs prepared to find my child on all fours exploring. Nope. DID SHE FALL DOWN THE STAIRS??..then the worst thoughts entered my mind. DID SOMEONE BREAK IN AND TAKE HER??????

In the midst of a heart attack, I went back in her room and suddenly from under the bed I saw it... The arm. SHE ROLLED UNDER THE BED. She must have rolled at least 6 or 7 times to get there and I can't believe she didn't knock herself out. She was quite content to be there, but man did she give mommy a scare.

*note to self - never ever ever leave Kennedy anywhere where she can roll off of or into anything.

She finally enjoyed the bath!! In fact, when I tried to take her out she screamed so hard, I put her back in. She was in there for 35 minutes!! When I finally did take her out she was a wrinkly little raisin, but it sure beats our normal 30 second bath. Ussually I lie her on the floor, suds her up and dip her in to rinse while she screams at the top of her lungs. I think the trick was we got a new bath seat. She liked sitting in it. After she had sat for quite a while I layed her on her back. She was already enjoying the bath so much she didn't mind. This new nine dollar ring could make life in our household (while bath life anyhow) a lot easier.

Kennedy went to see the Doc today and she has gained 7lbs since birth. She is over 15 lbs! She has also grown an inch and a half in length in one month. I can not believe how quickly she has grown :/ I still can not believe she is almost 4 months old. Time has flown, but in the same breath I can't remember what life was like before her. She has brought me so many smiles already in her four short months :)
